There are a lot of ways to approach a bathroom remodeling job; it can be big or small. Showers and toilets can be moved around, walls built or walls removed, or just a simple refacing and replacing existing fixtures for a fresh updated look.
Our particular niche is offering custom built rock, tile, or glass showers. We replace bathtubs, move fixtures, install cabinets and sinks, build walls, hang doors, and lay floor. A full bathroom remodeling project can be a pretty pricey project. A PPP, if you will.
We consult with a lot of customers looking for various levels of remodeling while keeping within a budget. We know what the costs of the projects and the materials are. While going over a budget with a recent customer of ours, they mentioned that they had gotten some quotes from those big bathroom refinishing companies.
Holy cow!!
Astronomical was the first word that came to my mind. Sure, they come in and do the job in one day. Sounds great. Their process is fairly simple, they just reface everything in a layer of plastic sheeting and caulk up the seams and go. That sounds like a great option for someone on a budget. Right?
Right?
Our customer was quoted $25,000 for a shower. Just a shower. A little one. A plastic one.
After we picked our jaws up off of the floor, we related that we could build a custom shower for less than half the price. Remodel the whole room for a large $25 K, add a new vanity, sink, tile floor, mirror, tub, tile shower, new fixtures.
So, to anyone who might be shopping around and thinking about re-doing your bathroom, make sure you talk to some regular old bathroom contractors, too. You can give us a call and we’ll talk you through all the steps of a bathroom renovation and let you know what to expect.
We wouldn’t be out of the house in a day though.
